This little cat has a history.
It started in the early DeepSeek wave. Then we went quiet for a while. Then we kept coming back.
About 20 months of becoming.
A quick little launch.
The first code was called Seek Deep Local AI. It already included DeepSeek R1 distilled models. Four days after that first commit, Local AI Chat made its App Store debut.
A little hibernation.
After the early burst, the code history goes quiet: 77 days between recorded changes on 6 February and 24 April. A pause in the log, not the end of the story.
We came back. A bit scrappily.
A new interface, more model choices, and plenty of fixing things as we went. By 26 May, the history records Whisper transcription working. Cat was learning to listen.
Finding a voice.
Progress came in bursts. Apple Intelligence joined the code in October; imported voice notes, transcription improvements, and chat attachments followed into January.
Indoor Cat. Outdoor Cat.
The two editions found their names. Eye-care reminders and menu-bar behaviour grew alongside the AI features. Cat was becoming part of the everyday desktop.
A bigger little world.
Development accelerated: creative and media tools, CatCut work, more onboarding, and a growing library. The native Space Cadet menu-bar style arrived in the code on 26 September.
Now, a little more personality.
A helmet. A rocket. A quiet cord. We’re exploring the small gestures that make Cat feel like company—and letting you help choose what comes next.
Dates follow the project’s code history and Apple’s App Store listing. Development milestones describe work in the code; they are not all public release dates. This timeline runs through 6 October 2026.
A helmet full of feelings.
Turns out your co-pilot has opinions. Quite a few, actually.
Happy to see you.
The best part of the mission? You came back.

A co-pilot for the everyday.
A tiny universe of useful moments. Same helmet. Same rocket. A surprising amount of personality.
